A long-time Maynard holiday tradition, started by the late Phil Bohunicky in the mid 1960's has everything a Christmas parade should have: Santa arriving by helicopter, ear-splitting sirens, local bands from various groups, floats from local businesses and organizations, and lots of smiling people (watching and marching).
The parade steps off from the Sudbury Street parking lot of Clock Tower Place (the Mill) and heads down Main Street, loops around downtown, and returns.
From a photographers perspective it runs backwards. When it starts everyone is backlit. When everyone returns, often cold and a bit tired, they are beautifully lit. Sigh!
